World War II ended, and Comunist Russia started conquering eastern European countries and ruling them under the U.S.S.R. or the comunist regime.
1946
An Iron Curtain goes over Eastern Europe, in which the Soviet Union controls
1948
Stalin creates blockade, causing Truman to create airlift to West Germans
1961
Berlin Wall created, seperating east and west Germany
1964
Lyndon B. Johnson increases the amount of soldiers in Vietnam
1973
Richard Nixon pulls out of Vietnam with almost 60,00 americans dead
1980
Ronald Regan says USA will stay firm against the Soviet Union or "Evil Empire" as he says
1985
New leader of Soviet Union steps up, Mikhail Gorbachev, towards the end of the Cold War
1989
Eastern Europe countries started the Velvet Revolution, that took away the communism, and put in new Democratic offices
1989
Once European conflicts ended, armed forces on both sides stopped manning the wall, enabling parts of the walls destroyed and Germans able to go to both sides once again
